These watering stakes are really handy! You can use any bottle (this one is from Cranberry Juice)to supply water to a plant via a ceramic stake. It really works terrific in hot climates! You can find them here: OrchidLight.com
I have a black thumb; I can't get anything to grow despite my best efforts.
I once had a potted heather plant when Dave and I first got married. It died and dried out despite my watering it twice a week, and Dave let me keep on watering it for a month before he informed me of it's untimely demise.
These stakes are really neat because you can't over-water or underwater. It gets so hot here in Texas that you have to water things daily almost, but with these things, you fill it up and then just re-fill when you see its empty. My thumbs are pretty green as long as I don't forget to water them:>D
