Hey, it's warm, and it's fun to play on! I say we build more for the little guys!

Caribou love the pipes in the winter because of the warmth!
Smart bear, smooth, straight path with no rocks or roots to trip over! LOL!
The animals have more sense than the watermelons!

We used to have to heat our Bunker C to 140 F to get it to move... that pipe doesn't look insulated, either.

Heat your Bunker FJ?

FJ-Bunker C? Fuel?

Anonymous said...

Yes, Bunker C, fuel oil. A thick, tarry black petroleum product used in ships boilers to make steam for turbines.

Oh, okay:>D I wonder if they could run on the stuff from the Athabasca tar sands. My mom said they're making a real mess up there refining it... It would be great to find a use for it in it's unreformed state...

It can probably be burned raw (as those oil-well fires will attest), but needs signicant preheating to get it "to" the "place" of "efficient combustion" where the heat or energy can be trapped... the heating of which can release explosive "vapours" (the lighter, more explosive factions of gas and aviation fuels) making it very dangerous.

I could be wrong, but think refining is probably the "safest" way of handling petroleum AND getting the most energy out of it.

Probably something like the old coal burning steam engines only instead of ash, you'd have to get rid of the sand...
