MODEL 608 .357 MAG. REVOLVER

I'm also really liking this one: "Taurus large frame revolvers deliver the goods in a big way when the chips are down. The 608 packs a mind-boggling 8 rounds of .357 Magnum firepower, while the model 44 offers up 6 rounds of full power .44 Magnum loads. Hammer forged for tough performance and confidence-boosting accuracy, these decision-makers come with hand-fitted actions, and clean, crisp triggers right out of the box. New innovations include ported barrels that reduce muzzle flip and felt recoil and the model 608's incredible 8-shot cylinder."

An 8-shot? That's crazy! What, is there no material between the bullets? And what's with that way short barrel? If anyone, Taurus could make it all work, but I'm totally snowed as to How.

Hi RS, I guess the cylinder is just a larger diameter... and the barrel is 4".. The extra metal probably lessens the recoil.

This one may not be as good for concealed carry though. It looks bigger than the S&W.

I carry a hammerless J-Frame most of the time in .38spl.

Now, if you want a big ol revolver that kicks butt and takes names, this is myfave. Or this.

Hi Cube, Ya, I'm thinking of this one for home defense. I have a .38 Lady Smith for concealed carry - fits nicely in purse or pocket.

Hi Brooke, You have good taste! What's the 'J-frame'?

It's pretty much the same thing as your Lady Smith, just with different grips and no hammer. DA only.

I love it for warm weather, as it is very concealable.

During the winter, I often carry my Bersa in a paddle holster, when I know I will be wearing a coat or heavy shirt. It is only a .380, but it does have a fifteen round magazine, which means I can get a sixteenth bullet in the chamber. >:)

A .410 gauge pistol???? I'll take two! (I can't hit the broadside of a barn with a normal handgun)

They also make .45/.410 derringers as well. Only two shots but man they got power!!!

Very nice Brooke! 16 bullets should take care of any job! Good for hubby! Better safe than sorry, that's my motto:>D

FJ - practice, practice, practice!

Hi FF - that does sound like fun! I suppose they'd knock me on my behind though...
