Stellar Nursery W5 + Adams Quote

I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce, and agriculture, in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain.
John Adams
US diplomat & politician (1735 - 1826)

I wonder what he would think of our music? Painting? Poetry?

Adams would hate and be appalled(but maybe not totally surprised) at the decadence and dissonance in America. He was well read enough to know what happened to Persia, Greece, Rome, Egypt...
Good morning, G*D bless and Maranatha!

...but Adams' son was a politician, too. The important thing was that his son had a choice. And if we want to continue to have choices, we'll need men of every generation willing to study politics and war.

Our problem today is that too many sons today study painting, poetry, etc., and have little stomach for war and/or "hardball" politics.

Ain't that the truth. It's looking more and more like people are just plain power crazy. I would like to just pluck one soldier from Iraq and make him President.

That would work for me.
