New Revised Standard Version

I was watching CSPAN2 this morning and there was a guy talking about a book he had written about how scribes changed the words in the New Testament to suit their purposes, blah, blah, blah. You know, the usual liberal BS. Anyhow, he said he was originally evangelical, then ecumenical, and finally agnostic. Okay.

He said the version of the Bible he likes is the New Revised Standard Version. I had never heard of it, so I looked it up on Wikipedia, and it turns out it's filled with liberal 'modifications.' For example, the original Christians didn't believe in private property.

In Acts 4:32 the NRSV says: "Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common." Which strikes me as very odd because Acts 5:4 then says "Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God." They missed the whole point!

Obviously the NRSV is just another attempt by the left to pave the way for forcing their ideas on the rest of us. People can live in little communistic pockets within a Capitalistic society. Capitalists can not live within a communistic society.

Good job! And so true, the schools of higher criticism have tried to gut the Bible for over a century, thencethe recent in a series of conferences to "decide" what Jesus really did and didn't say! Foolishness, Revelation 22:18-19(I believe) states what G*D thinks about those who add too and subtract from HIS Word! As for me, I won't go there!

that is exactly why we have an amplified version in our house! gives ALL true meanings.

we also keep a kjv, nkjv and a couple of other study type bibles. the strong's strongest concordance is also a handy book - if you can lift it!

these days are spoken of - tmw did a post on the adding to and taking away from the WORDS OF THE BOOK the other day - if that doesn't scare the crappe out of people, nothing will.

Hi Nanc, Yep! My favorite version is the Jewish New Testament with Commentary. I have the same of the whole Bible, but it's more difficult to read because you have to go to the index to figure out a lot of the Jewish words, ie Yeshua instead of Jesus, etc... that's obviously an easy one... they get a lot more complicated, like Yeshayahyahu for Isaiah... you can see the difficulties:>)

I have the Hebrew-English Interlinear Old Testament and a Greek-English Interlinear New Testament. Really gives the literal translation if you want to see what it says, not the smoothed out version. I'm going to be doing more on the Minor Prophets, so I may use the exact wording of it.
Good morning, G*D bless and Maranatha!

I was telling TMW on her site that several months ago, I heard of a convention (although now I cannot remember who was holding it) of "preachers" who were getting together to go through the NT to decide "what Christ definitely said," "what he MAY have said," and "what he wouldn't have said."

Can you believe that such blasphemy is going on in our time?

It's called the Great Apostacy, or falling away! Peter and Paul warned of it!
It doesn't surprise me, those who don't want to be accountable for their deliberate, persistant sin will fall into delusions!

I wonder if they'll get anything out of it....
