There's a good article at Christians Under Attack on "The Black Man and Islam" It's always mystified me why African Americans would become muslims, when muslims are so prejudicial (at least the ones I know from the Middle East AND of course what's going on in Sudan). I thought this persons comment was really good, in response to the post at CUA:

" A Call for African Unity: African Americans choose this day which side you are on. Will you side with your Black Sudanese brothers who are being killed in genocide of Holocaust proportions, or will you side with those who oppress them and who sold you into slavery?"

This should be looked at as a call not only to African-Americans, but as a call to all liberals and otherwise good-hearted people who allow bad things to happen in the name of political correctness.

When will it finally STOP ?!?

then, advocacy for the disabled,~ sacrificed to Islam, passengers with seeing-eye dogs are less important than the Islamic sensitivities of cabbies who are required to take all passengers

then, freedom of speech,~ sacrificed to Islam, cartoons, criticisms of Islam are not permitted, while Islamic slander and hate speech against Christians and Jews provoke no response

Freedom of (non_Islamic) Religion, has long been sacrficed.

now, finally GENOCIDE and SLAVERY : ((((((((((((((( where are the liberals' criticisms of the Islamic perpetrators?!? apparently, as long as Islamics living in democratic countries do not openly attack the most important 'freedom' of liberals,(licence to kill one's unborn child), all is tolerated ...

Armed Citizen

One of the reasons I like belonging to the NRA is to get the monthly "1st Freedom" magazine, which has real-life examples of people using firearms to protect themselves. This one is a real gem because of the reporter's question:

"Upon witnessing someone breaking into his neighbor's home, a man immediately called the couple who live there. Police say the couple immediately returned home and found the burglar inside trying to remove a television set. The male homeowner confronted the suspect, who drew a pocketknife and struck the homeowner's hand, cutting him. That's when the homeowner pulled a .22 pistol and fired two shots, wounding the intruder and causing him to flee. He was later apprehended. When a local reporter asked Knoxville, Tenn., policeman Mark Pressley the impertinent question of whether the couple would be charged in the incident, he replied, "They're kind of the innocent victims here. They've had enough problems."

Crazy huh? The reporter evaluated the situation based on who had the highest level weapon, not who was wrong to begin with. That's why reporters were against Israel last August. It didn't matter that Israel was attacked by Hezbollah. Israel has more weapons and therefore the guilty party. The guy in the above story has a gun vs. a knife, so he is the guilty party. Bizarro World logic.

Here's another story:

Police say a 17 year old was home with his cousin when four armed men kicked in the door and started shooting. The teen rushed to grab his shotgun and fired at his assailants, killing two of them. The other suspects fled, but were later apprehended. "Truthfully, it was either them or me," said the teen. "I'm thankful to be standing here today. I thank God."

Nova Over Iran

Explanation: A bright new nova is being studied by astronomers. The officially dubbed Nova Scorpii 2007 has become so bright in recent days that it is now visible to the unaided eye. Adventurous early morning sky enthusiasts should look in dark skies toward the constellation of the Scorpion, just below Jupiter and Antares. The above image may help as a sky chart. A nova this bright occurs only every few years. Novas are caused by thermonuclear explosions casting off the outer layers of a white dwarf star. Pictured above on Friday, the nova was being studied through a small telescope as it appeared over the Varzaneh Desert in Isfahan, Iran. The nova will likely fade but remain visible with binoculars for at least a few more days.

Sudden Jihad Syndrome

New Revised Standard Version

I was watching CSPAN2 this morning and there was a guy talking about a book he had written about how scribes changed the words in the New Testament to suit their purposes, blah, blah, blah. You know, the usual liberal BS. Anyhow, he said he was originally evangelical, then ecumenical, and finally agnostic. Okay.

He said the version of the Bible he likes is the New Revised Standard Version. I had never heard of it, so I looked it up on Wikipedia, and it turns out it's filled with liberal 'modifications.' For example, the original Christians didn't believe in private property.

In Acts 4:32 the NRSV says: "Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common." Which strikes me as very odd because Acts 5:4 then says "Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God." They missed the whole point!

Obviously the NRSV is just another attempt by the left to pave the way for forcing their ideas on the rest of us. People can live in little communistic pockets within a Capitalistic society. Capitalists can not live within a communistic society.

Polar Ring Galaxy NGC 2685

Explanation: NGC 2685 is a confirmed polar ring galaxy - a rare type of galaxy with stars, gas and dust orbiting in rings perpendicular to the plane of a flat galactic disk. The bizarre configuration could be caused by the chance capture of material from another galaxy by a disk galaxy, with the captured debris strung out in a rotating ring. Still, observed properties of NGC 2685 suggest that the rotating ring structure is remarkably old and stable. In this fascinating view of the peculiar system also known as Arp 336 or the Helix galaxy, the strange, perpendicular rings are easy to trace as they pass in front of the galactic disk, along with other disturbed outer structures. NGC 2685 is about 50,000 light-years across and 40 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major.

Planetary Nebula NGC 2440

Explanation: Planetary nebula NGC 2440 has an intriguing bow-tie shape in this stunning view from space. The nebula is composed of material cast off by a dying sun-like star as it enters its white dwarf phase of evolution.

Io: The Prometheus Plume

Explanation: What's happening on Jupiter's moon Io? Two sulfurous eruptions are visible on Jupiter's volcanic moon Io in this color composite image from the robotic Galileo spacecraft that orbited Jupiter from 1995 to 2003. At the image top, over Io's limb, a bluish plume rises about 140 kilometers above the surface of a volcanic caldera known as Pillan Patera. In the image middle, near the night/day shadow line, the ring shaped Prometheus plume is seen rising about 75 kilometers above Io while casting a shadow below the volcanic vent. Named for the Greek god who gave mortals fire, the Prometheus plume is visible in every image ever made of the region dating back to the Voyager flybys of 1979 - presenting the possibility that this plume has been continuously active for at least 18 years. The above digitally sharpened image was originally recorded in 1997 on June 28 from a distance of about 600,000 kilometers.

Ammendment 28?

Now this is an interesting proposal, hat tip Pedestrian Infidel:

"Therefore: Islam is not a religion, but a political ideology more akin to Fascism and totally in opposition to the ideals of freedom as described in the United States Constitution, especially the Bill of Rights.

Be it resolved that the following Amendment to the Constitution be adopted:

Article I

The social/political/ideological system known around the world as Islam is not recognized in the United States as a religion.

The practice of Islam is therefore not protected under the 1st Amendment as to freedom of religion and speech.

Article II

As representatives of Islam around the world have declared war, and committed acts of war, against the United States and its democratic allies around the world, Islam is hereby declared an enemy of the United States and its practice within the United States is now prohibited.

Article III

Immediately upon passage of this Amendment all Mosques, schools and Muslim places of worship and religious training are to be closed, converted to other uses, or destroyed. Proceeds from sales of such properties may be distributed to congregations of said places but full disclosure of all proceeds shall be made to an appropriate agency as determined by Congress. No compensation is to be offered by Federal or State agencies for losses on such properties however Federal funding is to be available for the demolishing of said structures if other disposition cannot be made.

The preaching of Islam in Mosques, Schools, and other venues is prohibited. The subject of Islam may be taught in a post high school academic environment provided that instruction include discussion of Islam’s history of violence, conquest, and its ongoing war on democratic and other non-Islamic values.

The preaching or advocating of Islamic ideals of world domination, destruction of America and democratic institutions, jihad against Judaism, Christianity and other religions, and advocating the implementation of Sharia law shall in all cases be punishable by fines, imprisonment, deportation, and death as proscribed by Congress. Violent expressions of these and other Muslim goals, or the material support of those both in the United States and around the world who seek to advance these Islamic goals shall be punishable by death.

Muslims will be denied the opportunity to immigrate to the United States.

Article IV

Nothing in this amendment shall be construed as authorizing the discrimination against, of violence upon, nor repudiation of the individual rights of those Americans professing to be Muslim. The individual right of conscience is sacrosanct and the practice of Islam within the privacy of home and self is strictly protected to the extent that such individuals do not violate the prohibitions described in Article III."

Barak Obama Declares Presidential Bid..

"One of the most entertaining opportunities that will emerge in 2007 will be using Barack Obama to fight Islamofascism. His father deserted the family when Barack Jr. was two and returned to Kenya. His mother then married another Moslem studying at UH, Lolo Soetoro from Indonesia.

He moved with his mother and stepfather to Jakarta when he was six, where he attended a Moslem medressa (religious school). That makes him a Moslem. There is no mention of this in the chapter of his book, The Audacity of Hope, where he discusses his religion, My Spiritual Journey (reprinted in Time Magazine). Obama claims he is a Christian, that he and his wife Michelle are members of the United Church of Christ.

The opportunity in this is not accusing him of being a “closet Moslem.” It requires taking him at his word that he has become a Christian — for that means he is an apostate. There is no dispute among either ancient or modern Moslem scholars that under Islamic law, a murtadd, “one who turns his back on Islam,” an apostate, must be put to death. Irtidad, apostasy, is committing treason against God, and traitors deserve to be killed.

Should Obama deny he ever was a Moslem, it will compound the problem in the eyes of Moslems. He was born of a Moslem father, raised by a Moslem stepfather, and received his first education at a Moslem school. That he subsequently went to a Catholic school in Jakarta before living with his mother’s parents back in Honolulu makes no difference. In the eyes of Moslems, he originally was a Moslem. How can he not be in those eyes, with a Koranic first name and his middle name that of the grandson of Mohammed? For him to become a Christian means he is, for them, a murtadd, an apostate.

Which provides the perfect opportunity for an enterprising journalist to ask him at a press conference if he is:

1. Afraid of Moslem assassination attempts as punishment for being in Islamic eyes an apostate?

2. Willing to publicly call upon all Moslems around the world to renounce such punishment and declare instead that Moslems are fully free to convert to another religion?

The odds are high that he will answer no to the first and yes to the second. As an oily politician, he will try to squirm out of a clear definitive yes with no wiggle room. But it should not be difficult for a smart journalist to get him to agree without reservation that Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states...

Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion. This right includes freedom to change his religion or belief...

Once Obama condemns the Moslem tradition of death for apostasy, then he can be asked:
The Koran famously quotes Allah as saying in chapter (sura) 2, verse 256 that there should be ‘no compulsion in religion.' Yet numerous sayings of Mohammed known as hadith which form the basis of Islamic Sharia law quote Mohammed as saying ‘If a Moslem discards his religion, kill him.' So are you telling Moslems that Allah was right but Mohammed was misquoted, and their Sharia law tradition on apostasy is wrong?

You can see how much fun there is to be had with this. Again, the key is taking Obama at his word that he is a Christian and not secretly a Moslem. No accusations necessary. The point is that Moslems view him as first a Moslem, not that he does. If done right with honest, straightforward, and persistent questioning Obama can serve as a quite useful anti-islamofascist tool.

Moslems will be infuriated with him for embarrassing them, Americans will tell themselves never to vote for someone with Hussein in their name to be their president — and it just might get a number of influential Moslems to abandon an important part of Islamic law. This is going to happen to Obama this year. And not only that. For he’ll then be asked if he will support the efforts of Christian missionaries in Islamic countries to peacefully convert Moslems to Christianity.

Yep, might as well put this guy to good use."

I'm still alive but freezing my tail off. We got 8 inches of snow last week and it reached 5 degrees below zero that night. That's not why I'm e-mailing though.

You may have heard about a suicide car bomb attack in Kabul last Thursday. It was at one of our FOB's (Forward Observation Bases) about 27 miles from here. But the real story is why no one was killed. We employ several thousand Afghans on our various bases. Not to mention the economy that is fed by the money these locals are making. Some are laborers and builders, but some are skilled workers. We even have one Afghan that just became OSHA qualified, the first ever. Some are skilled HVAC workers. Anyway, there is this one Afghan that we call Rambo. We have actually given him a couple of sets of the new ACU uniforms (the new Army digital camouflage)
with the name tag RAMBO on it.

His entire family was killed by the Taliban and his home was where our base currently resides. So this guy really had nowhere else to go. He has reached such a level of trust with US Forces that his job is to stand at the front gate and basically be the first security screening.

Since he can't have a weapon, he found a big red pipe. So he stands there at the front gate in his US Army ACU uniform with his red pipe. If a vehicle approaches the gate too fast or fails to stop he slams his pipe down on their hood. Then once the gate is lifted the vehicle moves on the 2nd gate where the US Army MP's are. So he's
like the first line of defense.

Last Thursday at 0930 hrs a Toyota Corolla packed with explosives and some Jack Ass that thinks he has 72 Virgins waiting for him approached the gate. When he saw Rambo he must have recognized him and known the gig was up. But he needed to get to that 2nd gate to detonate and take American lives. So he slams his foot on the gas which almost causes the metal gate to go up but mostly catches on the now broken windshield. Rambo fearlessly ran to the vehicle, reached thru the window and jerked the suicide bomber out of the vehicle before he could detonate and commenced to putting some red pipe to his heathen ass. He detained the guy
until the MP got there.

The vehicle only exploded when they tried to push it off base with a robot but noone was hurt. I'm still waiting for someone to give this guy a medal or something.

Nothing less than instant US citizenship or something. A hat was passed around and a lot of money was given to him in thanks by both soldiers and civilians that are working over here. I guess I just wanted to share this because I want people to know that it's working over here. They have tasted freedom. This makes it worth it to me.

Sun Storm: A Coronal Mass Ejection

Explanation: What's happening to our Sun? Another Coronal Mass Ejection (CME)! The Sun-orbiting SOHO spacecraft has imaged many erupting filaments lifting off the active solar surface and blasting enormous bubbles of magnetic plasma into space. Direct light from the sun is blocked in the inner part of the above image, taken in 2002, and replaced by a simultaneous image of the Sun in ultraviolet light. The field of view extends over two million kilometers from the solar surface. While hints of these explosive events, called coronal mass ejections or CMEs, were discovered by spacecraft in the early 70s, this dramatic image is part of a detailed record of this CME's development from the presently operating SOHO spacecraft. Near the minimum of the solar activity cycle CMEs occur about once a week, but near solar maximum rates of two or more per day are typical. Strong CMEs may profoundly influence space weather. Those directed toward our planet can have serious effects.

This is interesting, from "The Jewish New Testament Commentary" on Romans 10:6-8, page 399:

"Perhaps the most cogent reason for rejecting sense (2) for 'de' is that Greek has a different word, "alla," which is a strong adversative, which Sha'ul could have used had he meant to present an alternative way of being considered righteous by God. Had he written "alla," it could only have been translated, "but, on the contrary, in contrast."

Amazing Picture - Fireworks, Comet and Lightning!

Explanation: Sometimes the sky itself is the best show in town. On January 26, people from Perth, Australia gathered on a local beach to watch a sky light up with delights near and far. Nearby, fireworks exploded as part of Australia Day celebrations. On the far right, lightning from a thunderstorm flashed in the distance. Near the image center, though, seen through clouds, was the most unusual sight of all: Comet McNaught. The photogenic comet was so bright that it even remained visible though the din of Earthly flashes. Comet McNaught continues to move out from the Sun and dim, but should remain visible in southern skies with binoculars through the end of this month. The above image is actually a three photograph panorama digitally processed to reduce red reflections from the exploding firework.

Dan Rather, Katie Couric, and a tough old U.S. Marine Gunny were all captured by terrorists in Iraq. The leader of the terrorists told them that he would grant each one last request before they were beheaded.

Dan Rather said, "Well, I'm a Texan; so I'd like one last bowlful of hot, spicy chili." The leader nodded to an underling who left and returned with the chili. Rather ate it all and said, "Now I can die content."

Katie Couric said, "I'm a reporter to the end. I want to take out my tape recorder and describe the scene here and what's about to happen. Maybe someday someone will hear it and know that I was on the job till the end."

The leader directed an aide to hand over the tape recorder and Couric dictated some comments. She then said, "Now I can die happy."

The leader turned and said, "And now, Mr. U.S. Marine, what's your final wish?"

"Kick me in the a$$," said the Marine.

"What?" asked the leader? "Will you mock us in your last hour?"


"No, I'm not kidding. I want you to kick me in the a$$," insisted the Marine.

So the leader shoved him into the open, and kicked him in the a$$.

The Marine went sprawling, but rolled to his knees, pulled a 9 mm pistol from inside his cammies and shot the leader dead. In the resulting confusion, he jumped to his knapsack, pulled out his M4 carbine and sprayed the Iraqis with gunfire. In a flash, all the Iraqis were either dead or fleeing for their lives.

As the Marine was untying Rather and Couric, they asked him "Why didn't you just shoot them in the beginning? Why did you ask them to kick you in the A$$ first?"

"What???" replied the Marine, "And have you two a$$holes report that I was the aggressor?"

Explanation: On January 25th, light from a first quarter Moon illuminated this dreamlike landscape looking across the rugged, snow-covered peaks of the Alborz Mountain Range in northern Iran. The stunning sky is filled with stars, including the yellow-tinged Betelgeuse at the shoulder of Orion. Sirius, alpha star of Canis Major and the brightest star in planet Earth's night, stands above and left of picture center. The eerie glow along the Haraz valley in the foreground is light from cars traveling a highway leading from Tehran to the Caspian Sea.

"How To Enjoy The Bible" ~ E.W. Bullinger

I’m reading “How To Enjoy The Bible” by Bullinger, written in 1907. It’s interesting because it was written BEFORE 1948, long before anyone would have ever guessed that Israel would be re-born. This is an excellent snipette against both “Replacement Theology” and “Universalism”:

“We hold that what is written to and about the Jew belongs to and must be interpreted of the Jew. We hold that what is written of and about the Gentile belongs to and must be interpreted of the Gentile. We hold that what is written to and about the Church belongs to and must be interpreted of the Church. Is this robbery? Or, is it justice? Is it stealing? Or, is it restitution?

Evidence of the misappropriation (to use a milder term) is furnished by the Bible which lies open before us, to which we have already referred in speaking of the page-headings of Isa. xxix and xxx, in our current editions of the English Bibles, in which the former is declared to be “Judgment upon Jerusalem”; and the latter, “God’s mercies to his church.”

What is this but not only wrongly dividing the Word of truth, but the introduction of error, by robbing Jerusalem of her promised ‘mercies’ and appropriating these stolen mercies to the Church? While the ‘judgments’ are left for Jerusalem, just as burglars take away what is portable, and leave behind what they do not want or cannot carry away.
We believe God when He says that the Visions shown to Isaiah were “CONCERNING Judah and Jerusalem” (Isa. i.1).

True, they were written FOR us; and ‘for our learning’ (Rom. xv.4); but they are not addressed TO us, or written CONCERNING us, but ‘concerning Judah and Jerusalem.’

It would be an act of dishonesty, therefore, for us thus to appropriate, by interpreting of ourselves, that which was spoken of Israel.

In like manner, if we take, as some do, the words of the Epistle to the Ephesians as though they were written to or concerning the Gentiles (or the unconverted world), then we not only rob the Church of its most precious heritage, but we teach the ‘universal Fatherhood of God’ instead of His Fatherhood of only those who are His children."

This is another funny little bit from the page before: “This comes of that inbred selfishness which pertains to human nature; which, doing with this as with all beside, is ever ready to appropriate that which belongs to others.”

Barbara Boxer turns down CAIR award...

The Stone of Scone

"Traditionally, it is supposed to be the pillow stone said to have been used by the Biblical Jacob. According to one legend, it was the Coronation Stone of the early Dál Riata Gaels when they lived in Ireland, which they brought with them when settling Caledonia. Another legend holds that the stone was actually the travelling altar used by St Columba in his missionary activities throughout what is now Scotland. Certainly, since the time of Kenneth Mac Alpin, the first King of Scots, at around 847, Scottish monarchs were seated upon the stone during their coronation ceremony. At this time the stone was situated at Scone, a few miles north of Perth."


Stolen in 1296 by Edward I, returned to Scotland 700 years later in 1996.
