The Stone of Scone

"Traditionally, it is supposed to be the pillow stone said to have been used by the Biblical Jacob. According to one legend, it was the Coronation Stone of the early Dál Riata Gaels when they lived in Ireland, which they brought with them when settling Caledonia. Another legend holds that the stone was actually the travelling altar used by St Columba in his missionary activities throughout what is now Scotland. Certainly, since the time of Kenneth Mac Alpin, the first King of Scots, at around 847, Scottish monarchs were seated upon the stone during their coronation ceremony. At this time the stone was situated at Scone, a few miles north of Perth."

Stolen in 1296 by Edward I, returned to Scotland 700 years later in 1996.

Edward the Hammer hated the Scots and did anything he could think of to humiliate and destroy them as a race and nation. And the half-english nobility were busily selling out those they were supposed to protect. I wonder if we could get the un to issie a resolution condemning the attempted genocide?
Good morning, G*D bless and Maranatha!

Hi FJ, I wonder if they were 'invented' there... Scones are YUMMY!

Hi tmw, The Romans couldn't subdue them either, hence "Hadrian's Wall".. Maybe we could get the UN to issue a resolution 'condemning the WALL'!!! LOL!!!

The Scots are an interesting group, and some of America's best warriors now and in the past:>)

Wasn't Hadrian the one who changed the name of Israel to Palestine?

I doubt it. The men are still wearin' their kilts.

Yee Hawwwww! Kilts, and the men who wear them!

It takes a "real" man to be wearin' the kilt and the tartan! AND wield a 6', 2 edged sword, toss a caber, and dance a fling all night! Then be toss'n back the smoky scotch!
If you have ever been to Virginia, it looks a lot like Scotland.
It takes a "real" man, and a hairy chest. :sigh:

Ya? From what I've read, I really love that whole area of West VA, TN, etc... and their music.... I love the bluegrass Christian music from the '30s.... Heck, I just love the South and Southerners. Remember when Rangel made his cheeky remark about Mississippi? I thought "Give me Mississippi anyday.."

What I can't stand is self-righteous asshats from anywhere...

I guess there are fewer in the South / midwest because they understand self-righteousness is BS...
