"Why I Left Jihad" - Walid Shoebat

I’m reading “Why I left jihad” by Walid Shoebat. He was a terrorist from the West Bank who bombed a Bank near Bethlehem, amongst other things. I thought it would be interesting to read something from the perspective of an ex-Islamic terrorist. Check this out:

“Today, in response to what has become a mantra since September 11, -- that “true Islam is a religion of peace,” I say no. I grew up there. I was there at the mosques, the Friday Madrassa, listening to sermons by Ikrima Sabri, tapes by Abdul Hamid Kishk. They taught only the destruction of the Jews and hatred of the West. To kill, to maim, to hate, these were all the same as getting an “A” on your report card.

What the West does not understand about Islamism is that jihad has stages. If Muslims have the upper hand, then jihad is waged by force. If Muslims do not have the upper hand, then jihad is waged through financial and political means. Since Muslims do not have the upper hand in America or Europe, they talk about peace in front of you while supporting Hamas and Hezbollah in the back room. The whole idea of Islam being a peaceful religion emanates from that silent stage of jihad. As Sheikh Qaradawi taught Muslims in Chicago, when Salahu Deen Al-Ayubi (Saladin) was asked to concede to peace with the verse, Quran 8:61, “And if they incline to peace, then incline to it and trust in Allah.” However, from Quran 47:35, he replied, “And be not slack so as to cry for peace and you have the upper hand.”

In Islam, conceding to peace means that the Islamic Umma, nation, is weak. So as soon as Islam becomes the dominating force, it switches into war gear.”

This all jives with the “peaceful” verses in the Koran being written in Mecca when mohammed was the under-dog, and then the violent verses being written when he had taken over by force in Medina.

isn't he one of the best living testimonies we have available to us?!?

i've seen him on many faith based programs in the last few years - and am ecstatic to see people paying attention to him.

since we've been pretty much in transit i've let my book clubs go by the wayside, but will read this when i take them back up again.

Hi Nanc, This is a REALLY good book. Mind you I'm only on page 95, and there's 400+, but he really gets into the details. There's a few typos, which you'll easy recognize (being in the know) when you get it (like 1994 instead of 1944)...

You're right though, he is a gem. He reminds me of Bridgitte Gabriel because they both have lived and breathed the culture Islam produces, and they are willing to speak out against it. Brave and honorable citizens.

This only further collaborates my view as Islam being a religion of war.
In this country CAIR is the spearhead in the attack against America.
They use trumped up "flying imams" to denounce Americans as bigots and then demand special treatment.
Slowly but surely they are making inroads in America, biding time till they have the upper hand.

This man is indeed very brave, and I thank God that there are people like this. I've heard him speak before, on Fox News, I think. Too bad we don't have thousands more like him!

AC, A religion of war!!! Yep. Did you hear about the muslim taxi drivers in Minnesota who are refusing to transport people who have alcohol in their luggage? Give me a break!!!

Hi Gayle, Yes indeed. We need many more. Walid has a "fatwa" on him (no surprise) and can't go anywhere in the ME without having his head chopped off. Such a tolerant religion.

Islam is so weak that it fears all critique.

I had the privilege of seeing and hearing Shoebat speak at the symposium I attended in April. Wow! He gives powerful testimony and has charisma as well. Why don't the major news networks televise him every day? Um, never mind.

It can't be plainer than this:

“Today, in response to what has become a mantra since September 11, -- that “true Islam is a religion of peace,” I say no. I grew up there.

Shoebat will remain largely ignored until we suffer another horrific attack.

When I next order from Amazon, I'll have to get his book. My books on Islam have taken over an entire bookcase, but I'll have to add Mr. Shoebat's and Ms. Gabriel's books to the growing stack.

Walid Shoebat is a very corageous man; he knows the risks of speaking out against Islam better than anyone!

Hi AOW, Was Robert Spencer there too? He's ++ good also. I saw him on TV this morning (CSPAN2), and he gave an excellent talk, I think to the "Heritage Club". Anyhow, at the end there were some LLLs who stood up and started singing some mindless chant about Cheney, Halliburton, 100,000 dead Iraqis, etc. They actually listened through the whole 1 hour of Robert Spencer and learned NOTHING. I swear, they are completely brain dead.

Coooool Nanc, I'll go check it out. I remember you talking about Levitt in the past.. What do you think of the show with out him? I saw it once, and it wasn't so good... I'll DVR it again though and see what's going on.

Brooke, He sure does. It's very sad...

from what i understand - the show is only becoming stronger and every once in awhile, they'll put in a zola rerun at just the right time.

we have skyangel satellite at the cabin and will switch it over here asap.

tmw should get skyangel as it's run from florida. i don't watch tbn anymore because of what they did to zola and hal lindsey.

Walid is indeed a very brave man, and I'm sure there are tons more like him, though are more than likely too afraid to make themselves known on account of the fact that if they were found out, they'd be hunted down to be killed.

I had the priviledge of listening to his testimony and what he had to say about Islam and end time prophecy last weekend at a Moriel conference, and he's an awesome man - he needs praying for to be kept safe though.

Islam needs to be exposed for the evil that it is.
